Career opportunity

With the speed growth trajectory projected by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the demand is also getting high for trained professionals in the aviation industry, including aircraft maintenance engineers. Hence, the scope of a career in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is also soaring. According to experts, statistically, one operational aircraft leads to the creation of at least 28 jobs for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation states that there is a requirement of 7.54 Lakh licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers worldwide.

Eligibility Criteria

As far as the eligibility criteria are concerned, candidates should have passed or appeared for the Class 10+2 Board exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) subject combination.

Candidates who have a 3-year Diploma in Engineering or B. Tech or a higher degree in Science (PCM) are also eligible.

They should have to be physically fit and should not have any vision problems like Colour Blindness or Night Blindness.

What do Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Do?

  • Aircraft maintenance engineers are the most trained and qualified engineers who receive a licensed certificate issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Government of India. To pursue a career in aircraft maintenance engineering, aspiring professionals should not only have theoretical knowledge but also need technical as well as practical experience.

  • The main responsibilities of the aircraft maintenance engineers include making repairs, troubleshooting problems, conducting inspections, and make upgrades to aircraft. Before the take-off of the aircraft, the aircraft maintenance engineers have to inspect the air vehicle and sign the certificate ensuring safety.

  • Along with these, the aircraft maintenance engineers are also expected to keep themselves up to date with the latest trends and techniques available in the aviation industries and we have to carry out regular upgrades in the aircraft along with the maintenance and make some regular responsibilities.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering – Top Recruiters

Aircraft maintenance engineers easily find jobs in aircraft manufacturing or maintenance firms as well as airports. Students of aircraft maintenance courses can also appear in Associate Membership of Aeronautical Society of India and qualified, which is considered equivalent to B. E or B. Tech program in aeronautical engineering by the government of India.

The aircraft maintenance engineers can be recruited in the following industries/Airlines:

  • Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul companies

  • Operations Organisations

  • Civil Defence Forces

These are some of the top recruiters for aircraft maintenance engineering:

  • Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL)

  • Air India

  • Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)

  • Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited (BHEL)

  • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)

  • Indian Airforce

  • IndiGo

  • Vistara

  • Go Air

  • Spice Jet

  • Air Asia

WHY AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE COURSE IS BETTER THAN AERONAUTICAL

  • Aircraft maintenance course is a licensed course which is provided by the DGCA and this license is used for the maintenance and repair sector in charge of all kinds of aviation – aircraft field as an engineer.

  • This course with license is accepted worldwide as a course for qualifying and inspecting any kind of aircraft.

  • A be an aeronautical engineer can design and analyze an aircraft but an aircraft maintenance certified engineer has the authority to sign that an aircraft to fly.

  • Aircraft maintenance engineer is compulsory for all aviation industry in which every flying of an aircraft should be certified by this license holder with technical knowledge.

  • Aircraft maintenance engineering course with license holder can work all sectors of aviation which includes airports, components quality inspection, ground technical support, etc.

  • All pre-flight maintenance should be compulsorily certified by an aircraft maintenance engineer all over the world.

  • Every airline should possess a separate technical team qualified with aircraft maintenance engineers in every airport.

  • When the engagement of be graduates is optional for any aviation industry the employment of aircraft maintenance engineer graduates is mandatory and no industry can escape employing aircraft maintenance engineers.
