B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering
(In association with Indus University)
Aeronautical Engineering is a specialized branch of engineering that focuses on the design, development, testing, maintenance, and operation of aircraft and related systems. It combines principles of mathematics, physics, aerodynamics, propulsion, materials, and avionics to build safe, efficient, and high‑performance flying machines.
At Western India Institute of Aeronautics (WIIA), the B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering program is designed to provide students with a strong academic foundation along with extensive hands‑on exposure to real aircraft and live aviation environments.
Practical Training & Industry Exposure
WIIA follows an industry-oriented learning approach with a strong emphasis on hands-on training. Seventy percent of the structured practical training is conducted on campus, while the remaining thirty percent take place in an actual aircraft working environment at DGCA-approved CAR 145 Aircraft Maintenance Organizations. Students also gain real-world exposure through training and industry interaction with leading aviation organizations such as Indamer Aviation, Taj Air, and Air Works India Engineering Pvt. Ltd., ensuring alignment with current industry standards and operational practices.
Integrated DGCA License Pathway & Career Scope
WIIA offers a unique integrated pathway that allows students to pursue DGCA Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) License courses in B1.1 or B2 categories alongside or after completing the B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering degree. While the B.Tech examinations are conducted by Indus University, the AME License examinations are conducted and issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. Graduates of this program develop strong technical, analytical, and professional skills, opening career opportunities in airlines, MRO organizations, aerospace companies, and government or regulatory bodies, along with options for higher studies and long-term growth in the aviation sector.
B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering
B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering is a 4-year full-time undergraduate program focused on the design, development, testing, and maintenance of aircraft operating within the Earth’s atmosphere. The course provides a strong foundation in aerodynamics, aircraft structures, propulsion systems, avionics, and flight mechanics.
Students gain practical exposure to real-world aviation environments and are exposed to work on actual operational aircraft through training associated with Indamer Aviation, Taj Air, and Air Works India Engineering Pvt. Ltd..
Students interested in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) license courses can pursue DGCA-approved programs alongside or after completing the degree. While the B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering degree is awarded by Indus University, the AME License is issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Government of India.
This combination enhances career opportunities in airlines, aircraft manufacturing companies, and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) organizations in roles such as aeronautical engineer, aircraft design engineer, and maintenance engineer (with license).
